A rising star of the canine market, George Pickering studied Scientific
and Natural History Illustration at Blackpool College, during which time his prize winning entry in a Readers Digest
National Competition was recommended by Sir David Attenborough. He has worked as a lecturer and freelance illustrator
and has exhibited in London, Birmingham and Newcastle as well as locally. In 1999 he won the Matthew Brown Trophy,
awarded annually by Accrington's Howarth Gallery, taking both first and third prizes in a field of 600 artists.
(Previous winners included Steven Townsend).
Following the success of 'Reflections of Bygone Days', an evocative study of a barn owl , George gained a following
in the canine market with 'In from the Cold', whose success will doubtless be emulated by these stunning new works.
